Psychotherapy & coaching for expats and migrants

Why Roaming Roots Therapy?

Roaming Roots Therapy was created because I recognised the need for mental health support specifically tailored to travellers and individuals who have relocated abroad. During my own extensive travels around the world, I met countless individuals who expressed a desire for therapy services that could accommodate the unique aspects of their lifestyles, where they felt understood, and where their life choices were not pathologised for being different than most. Unfortunately, many were unable to find suitable support within the confines of traditional therapy approaches, leaving them without the much-needed assistance they sought. This inspired me to bridge the gap and establish Roaming Roots Therapy, an inclusive psychotherapeutic space that understands and addresses the needs of those within the global travelling community.

As a seasoned traveller who has lived abroad on multiple occasions, I know first hand the extreme highs and opposing challenges that come with a move abroad. My journey through various countries has provided me with deep insights into the complexities of relocating. This unique perspective allows me to offer psychotherapy that  not only informed by my professional knowledge, but is also enriched by personal experience. I understand what it feels like to navigate new cultures, adjust to different environments, and overcome the hurdles that come with each move.

At Roaming Roots Therapy, I help you navigate your feelings, emotions, and support you to process what you are experiencing. Moving abroad is a major life transition that can unexpectedly bring past patterns and traumas to the surface, heavily impacting your experience. Its important to be able to make sense of what you are going through as you navigate this change. I firmly believe that everyone should have access to psychotherapeutic support that respects their individual experiences, and that's why Roaming Roots Therapy exists.

Roaming Roots Therapy is committed to helping you to make your transition abroad as smooth and rewarding as possible.

Imagine having therapy with a specialist who is not only a Psychotherapist with over a decade of clinical experience, but also truly understands what it's like to be a long-term traveller. Whether you identify as an expat, nomadic, a refugee, a migrant, or something else, having a therapist who has a deeper level of understanding and insight into your unique lifestyle can make all the difference.

With moving abroad or long-term travel comes a unique set of challenges and considerations. This process can bring unresolved issues to the surface in unexpected ways. Roaming Roots Therapy is here to provide the specialised support you need to navigate these complexities.

As a seasoned traveller I have visited many countries and moved abroad twice. In fact, I currently reside in Mexico, where I have lived for almost a year. So I really do intimately understand the exhilaration and challenges that come with long term travel.

Having psychotherapy as a long-term traveller can offer numerous benefits that cater specifically to the unique challenges and lifestyle of those on the move. Here are some key advantages:
